Healthy Halloween Treats: Low FODMAP Protein Recipes That Don't Scare Your Gut

Halloween is basically a minefield if you're avoiding high FODMAP sweets — most "healthy" alternatives lean on honey, inulin or sugar alcohols, which just trade one problem for another. Here are two treats that are properly spooky and genuinely gut-friendly.

Chocolate protein energy balls styled as spooky eyeballs

Chocolate "Eyeball" Protein Balls

Makes 10-12

  • 2 scoops Blissful Raw Cacao Super Protein
  • 150g rolled oats, blitzed to a fine flour
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 3 tbsp peanut butter (smooth)
  • 2 tbsp cacao powder
  • White chocolate chips and a little melted dark chocolate, to decorate

Mix everything except the decoration into a firm dough. Roll into balls, chill for 20 minutes, then press a white chocolate chip into each with a tiny dot of melted dark chocolate for the "pupil."

A layered chocolate protein pudding styled as a graveyard scene

Graveyard Protein Pudding

Serves 2

  • 1 scoop Blissful Raw Cacao Super Protein
  • 200ml plant milk
  • 1 tbsp cornflour (or 1 tsp chia seeds, for a thicker set)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • Crushed gluten-free digestive biscuits, for the "dirt"
  • A few white chocolate squares, to shape into "tombstones"

Whisk the protein, milk, cornflour and maple syrup together and gently heat until thickened. Pour into glasses, top with crushed biscuit and a couple of chocolate "tombstones," and chill before serving.

Frequently asked questions

Can Halloween treats be low FODMAP?
Yes — the trick is swapping high FODMAP sweeteners like honey and inulin-based "healthy" chocolate for maple syrup and genuinely low FODMAP protein.

What can I give trick-or-treaters if I'm avoiding sugar and FODMAPs myself?
You don't need to make the whole house low FODMAP — these recipes are for your own treat stash so you're not left out of the fun.
