That Protein exists because we could not find what we were looking for. A protein powder that was genuinely gut-safe — not just claiming to be — made with real organic ingredients, tasted genuinely good and had the independent certification to back up every claim on the label.
Why We Started
The protein supplement market is enormous, saturated and, for anyone with IBS or a sensitive stomach, largely unusable. Product after product contained sweeteners that caused symptoms, gums that caused bloating, dairy proteins that aggravated gut conditions and long ingredient lists full of compounds that served the manufacturer rather than the customer.
We set out to do it differently. No shortcuts. No additives. No compromises on ingredient quality. And independent certification rather than marketing claims.
The FODMAP Friendly Certification
Becoming the UK's first and only FODMAP Friendly certified vegan protein brand was not the easiest path. Independent laboratory testing of every batch costs significantly more than simply writing Low FODMAP on a label. But for our customers — many of whom have spent years being let down by products that claimed to be gut-friendly and were not — the certification is everything.
It means that when the badge is on the bag, it has been tested. Not just the formula. Every batch.
Our Ingredients
We source organic ingredients because we believe what is good for the gut should also be good for the planet. Our brown rice protein is organic. Our raw cacao is organic and ethically sourced. Our oat groats are organic. Our coconut sugar is organic. Nothing synthetic. Nothing artificial. Nothing that serves the product rather than the person eating it.
What Drives Us
1 in 7 people in the UK have IBS. Most of them have been told their symptoms are not real, that they should just manage stress better, that there is nothing that can be done. We know that is not true. Nutrition is one of the most powerful tools available for managing gut health — and it should be accessible, delicious and certified safe.
That is why That Protein exists. And it is why we will keep building it.
