Low FODMAP Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Shake
Chocolate and peanut butter is one of the great flavour combinations — and it belongs in your blender. This Low FODMAP chocolate peanut butter protein shake is thick, creamy, and packed with plant protein thanks to That Protein Nutty Nutty Peanut Butter Super Protein. Low FODMAP Friendly and made with organic ingredients, it's the kind of shake that feels like a treat but works like a meal. Two minutes from fridge to glass.
Why This Shake Hits Different
A lot of peanut butter protein shakes rely on dairy, artificial thickeners, or high-FODMAP sweeteners to get that indulgent texture. This one skips all of that. Nutty Nutty provides the peanut butter protein base, frozen banana adds natural creaminess and sweetness, and a scoop of cocoa powder brings the chocolate depth. For an extra chocolatey double-layer shake, blend a portion of That Protein Double Choc Chip Porridge (FODMAP Friendly certified) with plant milk separately and pour it as a base layer before adding the peanut butter blend on top. Looks stunning, tastes even better.
Ingredients (serves 1)
- 2 tbsp That Protein Nutty Nutty Peanut Butter Super Protein
- 250ml plant milk, chilled (coconut or rice milk gives a great creamy result — even better with homemade nut milk)
- 1 tbsp natural peanut butter
- 1 tsp cocoa powder
- One-third of a ripe banana, frozen
- 1 tsp maple syrup (optional)
- 4–5 ice cubes
- Pinch of sea salt (brings out the peanut butter flavour)
Method
- Pour the chilled plant milk into your blender as the base liquid.
- Add the frozen banana pieces, Nutty Nutty protein, peanut butter, cocoa powder, maple syrup, and sea salt.
- Add the ice cubes on top.
- Blend on high for 45–60 seconds until thick and completely smooth.
- Taste and adjust — add a touch more maple syrup for sweetness or a splash more plant milk to loosen the texture.
- Pour into a wide glass. Drizzle with a little extra peanut butter and dust with cocoa powder to serve.
The Double-Layer Version
For a show-stopping layered shake, blend 1 tbsp Double Choc Chip Porridge with 100ml cold plant milk until smooth and pour into the glass first. Then blend the Nutty Nutty shake as above and carefully spoon it over the chocolate layer. The difference in density creates a natural separation that looks incredible and gives you two distinct flavour moments in every sip.
Nutritional Note
This shake provides approximately 22–24g of protein per serving, plus a good hit of healthy fats from the peanut butter. Using frozen banana rather than dairy ice cream keeps the recipe lactose-free and Low FODMAP, while adding natural potassium and fibre. It's a genuinely filling shake that can double as a post-workout recovery drink or a sustaining afternoon snack.
