Why Overnight Oats Are a Low FODMAP Winner

Rolled oats are one of the easiest Low FODMAP grains to work with. They're filling, versatile, and prep beautifully overnight. The key is keeping the rest of your toppings FODMAP-friendly — no honey in large amounts, no cow's milk, and no high-fructose fruits. That Protein Nutty Nutty brings natural peanut butter flavour and a boost of plant protein without any high-FODMAP additives. It's a Low FODMAP Friendly formula that fits seamlessly into a sensitive gut lifestyle.

Ingredients (serves 1)

  • 2 tbsp That Protein Nutty Nutty Peanut Butter Super Protein
  • 50g rolled oats (certified gluten-free if needed)
  • 180ml plant milk (rice milk or coconut milk work especially well — even better with homemade nut milk)
  • 1 tbsp natural peanut butter (no added sugar or onion/garlic)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt

To Serve (optional toppings)

  • Sliced strawberries (up to 5 per serving is Low FODMAP)
  • A drizzle of extra peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp pumpkin seeds
  • A light dusting of cinnamon

Method

  1. Add the rolled oats, Nutty Nutty Protein, chia seeds, and sea salt to a jar or airtight container. Stir to combine the dry ingredients.
  2. Add the plant milk, peanut butter, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Stir everything together thoroughly until the peanut butter is fully incorporated.
  3. Seal the jar and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or overnight.
  4. In the morning, give the oats a good stir. If they've thickened too much, loosen with a splash more plant milk.
  5. Add your chosen toppings and enjoy cold, or warm gently in the microwave for 60–90 seconds if you prefer a warm breakfast.

Nutritional Note

This recipe provides around 20–22g of protein per serving, making it one of the most protein-dense Low FODMAP breakfasts you can prepare. Chia seeds add omega-3 fatty acids and extra fibre, while oats deliver beta-glucan — a soluble fibre linked to sustained energy levels. The natural peanut butter contributes healthy monounsaturated fats to keep you satisfied until lunch.

Batch Prep Tip

Make 3–4 jars on a Sunday evening and stack them in the fridge. You'll have a gut-friendly, high-protein breakfast ready for every busy weekday morning without any extra effort. The oats keep well in the fridge for up to 3 days.
